Climate Change

Recognizing our role in addressing climate change, we are decarbonizingour operations by investing in renewable energy solutions, enhancing water efficiencies and investing in circular economy.

Our energy management approach is rooted in continuous monitoring and data-driven decision-making. Through an integrated Building Management System Environmental Data Management Tool.

We set a new industry benchmark by being the first property in India to introduce eco-friendly boats, inspiring others to follow suit.

Enhancing Energy Efficieny

We prioritize adopting cutting-edge technology solutions and process transformation to continually improve energy efficiency across our operations.

Heating
Installing heat pumps and solar hot water systems helps us optimize energy consumption in indoor heating. These enhancements have resulted in a reduction of around 98 KL of diesel per year across The Leela Palace Udaipur and The Leela Palace Chennai.

Lighting
LED lighting and intelligent lighting control systems such as dimming systems help optimize lux levels at our properties while creating warm, inviting ambiences tailored to guest preferences.

Cooling
We have upgraded to equipments with higher Coefficient of Performance and Energy Efficiency Ratio ratings. Additionally, we have installed auto tube cleaning systems and variable speed drivers on chillers, cooling tower fans, and pumps to regulate motor speed and reduce energy consumption during partial load conditions.  Furthermore, we have upgraded to efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal efficiency.

Water Conservation

Recognizing the growing water stress in regions such as Bengaluru, Jaipur and Udaipur and the need for water conservation, we monitor and embrace responsible measures to reduce consumption across our properties.

We have implemented advanced water-saving technologies throughout our properties, such as low-flow fixtures, aerators in guest rooms and public areas.

Harnessing technology, conserving every drop

An integrated network of smart sensors and real time monitoring systems empower us to track and analyse water consumption patterns to identify potential leaks, address inefficiencies, implement targeted measures and plug any gaps promptly.

We harness the power of IoT based interventions to optimize water usage and accelerate conservation effort across our properties.

Circular Economy

We recognize that every material has an intrinsic value not only in its use-phase but also at the end-of-life. The waste generated is categorized into primarily dry waste, wet waste, e-waste, battery waste and hazardous waste components to ensure proper handling and treatment. We regularly monitor and maintain transparent records of our waste management practices, ensuring compliance with the Central/State Pollution Control Board requirements.

At The Leela, we actively promote the 4R principles – Reuse, Repurpose, Reduce, and Recycle – across our entire operations and value chain.

Leela ke Phool

As part of our commitment to a circular economy, we have partnered with ‘Phool’, an organization that repurposes used flowers, to transform florals adorning our properties into exquisite organic incense sticks and cones infused with our signature fragrance, Tishya by The Leela.
