Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum

In the lush green surroundings of Cubbon Park in Bengaluru, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum pays homage to the legendary Bharat Ratna awardee Sir M Visvesvaraya. The museum, spanning 43,000 square feet, is a marvel of scientific innovation and was inaugurated by India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1962. Its first-ever exhibition, based on the theme of "Electricity," was unveiled to the public on July 27th, 1965.

The museum is designed as a "Science Museum" and features four floors, each dedicated to a scientific discipline, with the top floor converted into a food court. The museum's decor is inspired by ancient scientific tools and machinery, including Wright Brothers' Kitty Hawk and flying Stimulator. The backdrop showcases surreal pictures and animations of changing climates, sea and land dynamics, and different planetary positions. The museum houses seven permanent gallery displays, including exhibits on steam engines, airplanes, and motor power.

In addition to these displays, the museum has a virtual gaming zone, a tiny planetarium, and a 3D visual display centre for recreation. Its interactive demonstrations and experiments aim to promote the importance of science in everyday life. A must-visit destination for families and science enthusiasts alike, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum is an ode to the marvels of modern science and technology.
